Who we are
This policy covers the Chandra Tithi app for Android (package com.ga7188.chandratithi), which shows the
current lunar day (tithi), upcoming tithis and a tithi calendar. The app is developed and published by an individual
developer under the Google Play developer account “ga7188”.
Information the app uses
Tithi data from our server. To show today’s and upcoming tithis, the app requests them from
api.chandratithi.com over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. These requests contain only your chosen
month system (Purnimanta or Amanta). They do not include your name, birth date, location or any device
identifier. As with any internet request, our hosting provider receives your IP address in order to send the reply
and may keep it briefly in routine server logs. We do not use it to identify or track you.
Birth date and time (optional). If you use the Birthday feature, the birth date and time you enter and the tithi it corresponds to are calculated and stored only on your phone. They are never sent to us or anyone else.
Location (optional). By default the calendar uses New Delhi to calculate sunrise, and the app does not ask for location. Only if you choose Settings → Location → Use current location does the app ask for Android’s approximate location permission. It then reads your approximate location once and uses it to:
- calculate sunrise for your place, which decides the tithi shown for each calendar day; and
- choose the month system customary in your region (Purnimanta or Amanta), which you can still change.
To show your town’s name, the app uses Android’s built-in geocoding service, which sends the coordinates to Google to look up the place name, under Google’s Privacy Policy. The place name and coordinates are then saved only on your phone. The app does not track your location in the background, does not read it again unless you choose Refresh location, and never sends it to our server. You can return to New Delhi in Settings at any time, or remove the permission in your phone’s settings.
Settings. Your language, month system, theme and similar preferences are stored only on your phone.
What we do not do
- We do not ask you to create an account or collect names, email addresses or phone numbers.
- We do not show ads or include advertising, analytics or crash-reporting software.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, files, camera or microphone.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal information with third parties.
Keeping and deleting your information
Everything the app stores is kept on your phone. You can remove a saved birthday or location in the app’s Settings, or erase everything by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling it. Because we do not hold your personal information on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Children
The app is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Security
Communication with our server uses HTTPS. Information kept on your phone is protected by Android’s app storage, which other apps cannot read.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s handling of information changes, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
